i keep getting the message "no applications configured for synchronization"

What version of Desktop Manager are you running, it should be 4.2 Service Pack 2, or DM ver 4.3.
What version of MS Outlook are you running on the PC?

Open Desktop Manager
> Sync button
> Configuration tab
> Configure button

From there, "map" your BlackBerry components to your MS Outlook components.
Your BB applications will be show on the left side of the arrow, and you will mapping your Outlook components to each.
> Highlight your Address Book and click CHOOSE to the right, find your MS Outlook Address Book listed and click OK to save.
> Continue with the remaining applications.

I had the same problem too....Vista doesn't come with Outlook, so gotta get a version of Outlook.

Assuming that you have the proper version of DM you can try a detect and repair in Outlook 2003 or run Office Diagnostics in Outlook 2007.

Also make sure there are no other Roxio products in your machine other than what I may find on the DM.

those are the 4 programs that i can sync. shouldn't there be one for e-mail, or is e-mail included in one of those?

No, email will not sync on a BIS personal account. You must have BES for that function.
