Means the beery is in the holster. A proper BB holster has a magnet in it that the berry detects, it puts the berry in sleep mode. It also allows you to use different ringtones. for example, my default profile tones when out of the holster, but vibrates when in.

It's one of the great features of the BB

Default Holster with a Magnet

Hi ~
I bought my BB 8310 Curve from AT&T and it came with a Leather Holster. I don't think it has a Magnet in it. Is there a way to tell if it does. I can't feel one in it . Should I buy a Holster that does have a magnet and how do I tell if they have one. What about the cases that are scratch and break resistant ? Thanks for your advice and help.
Tony .

Or just stick it in the holster and see if the display goes off right away.

Argon is right - put the BB in the leather holster. Try it facing both ways. The leather holster that comes with the 8320 has small magnet towards the bottom on one side.

Although you can't feel the magnet, it is there. I have the 8310 from at&t as well and and the leather holster that came with mine has it. If I'm not mistaken, all cases/pouches made by RIM for the BlackBerry comes with the magnet.

means inside the blackberry holster, or out, it has a magnetic sensor that tells it if it is or not.

I totally agree, holster feature is one of my favorites (recent convert). Though I have found that sometimes it registers keystrokes before "sleeping".
