Can't Access Credit Union Account
Please Login to Remove!
I'm trying to access my credit union account from my BB Curve. The logon screen appears first, and I provide my account number and password. These are accepted and the next web page appears. It contains a number of buttons and links which are normally clickable, but on the BB none can be clicked. At the very end of the page is the message Function not enabled. in a very large font.
I first spoke with the Credit Union IT department, and they claim to have no restrictions regarding access by Blackberries. I then spoke with Verizon, and they put me through to Blackberry Support. The BB tech had no explanation for the message or what was going on. He had me enable all browser options which had not been enabled, mostly related to JavaScript, and then try again. Results were the same.
Any idea what function is not enabled and who is not allowing it to be enabled?
Just to be sure that the problem isn't generic to passworded sites, I logged in to my PayPal account successfully.

I cant really answer your question, but I am able to log into my banking website using the Opera Mini Browser, but not the BB Browser. You might want to try that browser.

Often times web sites that are not WAP enabled for smart phones have a lot of scripts and such that the BB browser has a difficult time with. Opera Mini does handle many sites that the native browser cannot.

Just a quick word of caution. When accessing websites, the pages and all associated data are sent through the Opera transcoding servers. This means there is an extra point at which your data can be logged, viewed or even copied. I would really think twice about viewing or sending personal information via Opera Mini.
As to the OP, often times websites are coded to sniff for OS versions, Browser, Browser version etc. Functions are then allowed, layouts changed, even styles are adjusted based on the returned information.

I have always been wary of using Opera Mini for this reason, because I'm just not comfortable knowing that my information is logged by yet another server(not counting the countless others). Is it really a huge security risk using Opera Mini, I mean if I really need access to my bank I can call, but using my BB would be a great help. Any ideas on just how accessible this information is to third parties?

Not that I am aware of. The Opera transcoding servers are what process the requested page, this is a necessary step to get pages to render, and cannot be circumvented.

I imagine they have decent measures in place to secure information, but that does not guarantee the security of your information. Here is a quote directly from the Opera Mini site:
"If you need full end-to-end encryption, you should use a full Web browser such as Opera Mobile."

Wachovia works great with my 8310 right out of the box. I would not use Opera Mini due to security!

Sorry for any confusion. Opera Mobile will most definitely not work on a Berry, the quote was made in general towards mobile devices by the Opera Security folks.

Minuet Browser does not work on my Blackberry, Anything I put in to access says page not found. My Blackberry has access because I get the weather on BBweather and when I do an autoconfig in RDM+ it says it can direct TCP connect. oh well.
