I downloaded the yahoo messenger from the blackberry's owner lounge and installed on my BB but when i signed in, it tells me service not enabled on for the device. I have the curve 8310. What can i do? Thanks for any help

Att doesn't allow the use of yahoo messenger. Have to use somethin like jivetalk.

You need service books for it to work. I do think there is a work around in the forum some where you have to search. I'm working but I will try and find it.

Your best bet with ATT is to go to the ATT Media Net and select number 3 Mail and Messaging and the IM and it will prompt you to download OZ which works pretty well for me. The thing to remember is if you to not have a Data Plan you will be paying per use on the log ins. It's only like .20 cents per log in for me so far but then it sends all messages via SMS Text. This is the closest you will get to YIM w/o a Data Plan on ATT.

Thanks everyone for the info... i am so clueless about this. It boggles me why ATT wouldnt allow YM?

Jivetalk is not free...i dont see any reason why i have to buy it when yahoo is providing us free IM for mobile use.

Also, please educate me on what service books is? Thanks so much if anyone can tell me where i can find info on this one.

There is too many things to do to enjoy a phone like Blackberry i guess.... *sigh*
