Default Screws inside the 8100 won't unscrew

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, I am trying to replace my screen on my 8100 because it has alot of scratches but I ran into a problem. I tried to unscrew the screws that connect the side latches and it looks like the tool that i was using wore the edges of the screw down from the previous time I took apart my phone and now my mini screw driver wont unscrew the screw. What can I do? Do I have to break the side latches off?

Its a torq bit T6 that's the only tool to use, if you used a "mini screwdriver" you striped the threads out.

Also you do not want to break anything off, and I understand your options are limited but give it a minute and someone else will chime in with help

I believe the front ones are a T7, sounds stupid but I think that's what mine are.

A torx bit is a star shaped bit with six points on it. Any other screwdriver will likely wear the head of the screw out. Occasionally, you can get away with using another screwdriver but you will damage the screw. If it's rounded out you will need to use a tiny "easy-out." They can be hard to find, though.

I don't recall the Pearl having two different sizes of screws.

I noticed that on mine, when I went to use a T6 bit it started to round the head out, I used a T7 and it worked perfect am very sorry for not clarifying I have a curve not a pearl and it could be different

If you are very careful you can take a small flat blade screwdriver that fits the screw head and apply a tiny bit of crazy glue to the tip. Hold it in place for a minute or so and then try to remove the screw. I have done this many times and applying the smallest amount of the glue it key. You may also try the correct size bit with this method. Hope this helps.
