Default Is my Pearl 3G?

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8130 pearl from Bell (Canada) Mobility, and on the back, in tiny letters, it says:'Qualcomm 3G CDMA'

Does this mean that my phone is 3G? How can I check to see if this is the case. If it does not mean that my pearl is 3G capable, then what does this label mean?

Thanks in advance,

A.

Yes, it's 3G.
EV-DO is a CDMA 3G wireless technology.

Just another good reason for me to dump my 8100 and go with an 8130!

I would decide this based on coverage first, device second. If you don't travel outside North America then you're fine.

I just checked t-mobile's site and the 8120 is only $50 cheaper than the 8320....not worth it to me. I would just go for the Curve.

Neither of those (8120 or 8320) are 3G. The user above is asking about the 8130, which is a CDMA device.

Hey I've got a question to throw in here seeing as I've been using my Pearl for a while now and was wondering how this is done with a phone. Do all 3G phones have the ability to be used as a modem for a laptop? I was always kinda wondering if it was possible to use my 8130 this way and if so how is it done? Anyone got a link?

rogers is the only true option for a blackberry sadly. But really its only the price that so terrible about them. If i wouldnt have to pay 110 $ for a half decent blackberry plan i would love rogers.

FYI:
During our own tests between the 8100/8130 and 8800/8830 revealed little difference in performance, while web browsing. The 312mhz CPU seemed to be unable to reap the high-speed difference while rendering the page.

However tethered, the 8130/8830 soared passed the EDGE devices. We did this under Verizons guidance btw.

Sadly I must disagree about Rogers being the only way to get a BB. I have ongoing difficulties being able to get consistent internet connection and customer support is almost nonexistent. I have a 200 Meg data plan for a huge price and despite not much change in internet usage they say I have used over 300 megs this past month. Unbelievable!! It cost me an arm and a leg.

So so long Rogers!!

Telus 8130 is 3G so bring it on!!

This is great news. I have tethered using my 8100 and didn't think it was much better than dual up.
