Default New BB Bold Low Handset/Ear Plugs/Speaker Phone Volume

Please Login to Remove!

Has any noticed that the volume on the bold is not that loud even when it's turned up all the way? This is on the handset and also with the ear buds in and also the speaker phone when enabled.

Why cant I adjust it higher? I can play music on it through the speaker phone and it's really loud but a call with speaker phone isnt as loud as the music.

Is there anyway to adjust this higher then using the buttons on the side when your in a call/ear piece or speakerphone?

Regards,

Which version Do I download?

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.243 (EastAsia)

Or

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.199 (Multilanguage)

They dont list release date of them. I checked my bold and it has v4.6.0.125

Which one Do I download?

The EastAsia one is the newest. I'm running it on mine without probs (you are definitely using a bold right, just your status says 8800 - DO NOT attempt to apply this to an 8800).

No I'm running a new bold. My old phone was a 8800. Ill update my profile with Bold.

Was there any changes to the volume in the new release? I was looking online and there is supposed to be Options -> General Options -> Default Call Volume

I dont have General Options? What is up with that?

I'm just waiting for the BB manager to finish downloading and the EastAsia firmware. I will install ASAP.

Has anyone else knoticed this issue?

The general options you mention can be accessed by going into the phone options screen (eg, just start dialing a number) then press the menu button and go to options. General Options is in there.

My Bold is from Rogers. Call volume earpeice and speaker phone is fine. About the same as my Curve. Plenty loud at mid volume.

I went under Phone Button -> Menu Button -> Options -> General Options -> Default Call Volume -> 100% I changed it to. I'll try that before I flash the firmware.

It said "Previous", what ever that means.

No worries, mine is set to previous too, it must be the default - 'previous' basically means whatever the volume was set to for the last call.

Fingers crossed if that doesn't sort it, a firmware flash will help. It has improved my call clarity no end too.

I updated the firmware on the device. I will test tonight and see how it works. Havent got a call on it yet. I also spoke with my Rogers rep. He said if it causes me any more trouble he will replace it since I just got it yesterday.

Could this be an issue with the new 3G cell towers? Like sound going from loud to quiet?
I'll update the post tonight or tomorrow.

Thank you for all your help cde3879

I used the phone last night and this morning and the sound seems a little better but not by much(after the firmware upgrade).

I'm going to stop into my phone dealer today (Rogers) and maybe give another handset a try if he has one. If it's the same I guess it is something I'll have to live with.

The earphones arent really loud enough either when on the phone, but for music they are very loud(what is up with that?). Those little earbud things dont stay in my ears(tried all sizes) and they keep falling out. Why wouldnt they use the same as the previous models.

Sorry just ranting and raving. I'll update on the new handset when I give it a try this afternoon.

Is there any updates from anyone else on this issue? I talked with my rogers rep and they updated my SIM card with a new version from the 3040 to 4000 series SIM card. That didnt seem to make any difference. The firmware update has been applied from above.

I want a new handset.

My Roger Bold right out of the box is way louder than my Curve or 8820. If fact it is one of the things I like the best. I am sticking to the origianl OS for a while till there is something worth upgrading for. My Bold is working too good!
