Default HotSpot Only Browser?!?

Please Login to Remove!

Went into my browser to download some apps and fill up that 31MB of empty application space, and it says I need to connect to WiFi to use the Browser?? Fine, go into Browser>Options> and HotSpot Brower is the only configuration available.
Hook up to Desktop Manager to see if maybe my BB Browser wasn't installed, but it is.
So.. Anyone else having this issue? It's probably specific to T-Mobile Germany Bold's because of web n' walk but would like a way to get online without WiFi.

If you go to Options >Advanced Options >Browser do you have other options to set as default? If not, you may need to resend your service books.

Could you post a list of service books installed on your device?

I had the same problem, spoke to tmobile my service provider, they tried by resending the service books, did not resolve the problem, spoke to Rim unfortunately they informed me that Tmobile doesn't provide service for the phone so they don't have the service book that is needed to use the browser, the only option is to go through the wifi.
Let me know if you find a way to resolve this.

Unfortunately there is no solution at the moment. The Mods should add a sticky thread informing ppl that the bold will not work 100% on T-Mobile in the States cause T-Mobile doesn't have all the service books for it.

Also, why would someone on T-Mobile USA wven want the bold since they can't utilize the 3G on it anyways?

This is an issue with lots of unlocked devices. It happens with AT&T, as well.

I think its T-Mobile in general, got my nice shiny bold yesterday on Orange UK, popping in my T-Mobile sim (CPW UK sell unlocked BB Bolds ) while i waited for CPW to do there thing and defaulted to the T-Mobile brower only no other options available. was like looking at the web on a mini screen. popped back in the orange sim and 3 browser options.

Thanks for the tip JC, however already tried that. There is no other browser by default. Hotspot only. Used WiFi to download Opera once again to use as my "default" browser.

T-Mobile U.S. does not provide a service book for a BB Browser for whatever reason (Same with MMS )

1) The Best screen on a mobile device.. Ever!
2) Twice the processor (624MHz Bold vs. 312MHz Curve)
3) Twice the Flash memory (128MB Bold vs. 64MB Curve)
4) 1GB onboard memory
5) Better overall design
6) OS 4.6

Just to name a few..

Yeah, using an unlocked device on another carrier isn't always what it's cracked up to be. If TMo launches the 9000 you'll get a browser. Until then....you're out of luck.

It hasn't been too bad (using the 8310 from AT&T instead of the 8320, and 8820 from AT&T because they had it first), but when you have a completely unreleased device, it becomes an issue... Oh well...

Quick technical question though, does the Browser & MMS service book really depend on model. It's just to tell the BlackBerry where to send the information, so who's to say an 8800/8820 service book wouldn't work...

theres gotta be a work around for this. the same thing happened with unlocked curve 8300 when it first came out and u would try and use em on tmo.

i remember u would have to have the o2 software installed on the curve and thats the only way it would work. when i get a chance im goin to load up a couple differant softwares to see if this works.

for now opera mini works fine

There is no workaround except for using Opera. ATT will come out with the software soon and then it will be a non-issue.

Which Opera mini version do you use for the Bold? I went to download and I didn't know which model to pick, as the Bold isn't mentioned?
