Default Free alternative to Address Book on Mac

Please Login to Remove!

I really don't like Address Book on my iMac G5 with Tiger. Is there an alternative? I have synced with PocketMac to my BB, and I just really hate how Address Book adds Categories for my wife and myself, if we both have the same contact in our list.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome!!

Have you tried Outlook? Or it might be a different name for the Mac...or does OpenOffice have a Outlook type application

Is Entourage free? I thought it was bundled in with Office, and my bank account can tell me how not free Office was.

Entourage is not free and is bundled with Office, therefore not meeting your criteria of free

After a little research, I have come to the conclusion that Entourage is not free, lol. It sounds like what I want, but I have no reason to purchase MS Office, so that is out. Now, Thunderbird, that is a web browser is it not? I do not see how that will replace Address Book, but if you know otherwise, please let me know.

Sorry, I didn't read the "free" part. And after further research, Thunderbird is a mail only program.

I've been playing around with Chandler (chandlerproject.org) and it's a nice little PIM program so far. I have yet to see if it plays friendly with PocketMac and the Blackberry yet though. I'm still getting the settings how I like them before I start moving on to more annoying things like getting the Sync to work right.

Hi,

While I don't know about some of these apps specifically, any apps that will sync to AddressBook/iCal or which have support for SyncServices can be used with PocketMac. Just configure the 3rd-party app to sync to AddressBook, then configure PocketMac to use AddressBook as well, and that should do it.

Hope this helps!
