Default Deleting apps on handheld

Please Login to Remove!

I tried clear out some apps I no longer use on my curve and got some error about the IT policy does not allow. Where in the BES do I need to go to allow users to delete applications from handheld?

Thanks ahead!

You need to edit the Application Control Policy within the Software Configuration.
The policy is likely set with a disposition of 'Required' for that particular application.

Its a third party app though...so it shouldn't be "required"

Have you looked in the Software Configuration? That's where third-party apps are handled.
You can use it to push third-party applications to handhelds from the BES or use it for disallowing certain third-party apps from being installed by the end user. It's quite flexible.

Please check your software configuration and its related application policy.
The default disposition for all apps could be set to 'Required' or the disposition for each app could be handled individually.

Using BlackBerry Manager:

Highlight the BlackBerry Domain in the left pane, then choose the 'Software Configurations' tab at the top of the right pane.

Examine the configuration that is currently assigned to the user's having the issue.
You'll see a button, or a link, to view/edit the associated Application Policy.
In the policy is where you'll find the disposition.

There isn't really even a default config setup....

Error message I receive...

Unable to remove Viigo. It is "required" by IT policy application control

I'm not sure what else to tell you.
The message you are seeing is consistent with what you'd see if the application control policy which is assigned to the device is set up with a disposition of Required for that app, or all apps.

Let's back up for a bit...

Is there a Software Configuration assigned to this particular user?
If you look in BlackBerry Manager at this user, you should see what Software Config is assigned.

Are you even using software configurations at all? If no, make sure there's not one assigned to the user.

It would show up when the user is highlighted as to which software config they are assigned...correct?

Cuz I did that and didn't see one...
