Default text message without address book entry?

Please Login to Remove!

So is there a way to send a text message, without actually putting the number in your address book??

im trying to text internationally. but it isnt working. and im wondering if it is actually using all the numbers that are saved in the address book contact?? because you have to dial 011+country code+phone number. i have all those numbers saved as the contact. but im not sure if its using all the numbers, since it just lets me choose a name, from my address book, to text to.

my phone number is blocked. so i store some contacts in my address book, with *82 at the beggining. so that my number will show up when i call that contact. but it doesnt work either. i have to physically dial the entire number, instead of just choosing the name, and pressing send. if i choose the name, and hit send. it ignores the *82 for some reason?? so i assume its doing this with texts as well.

Why do you have to put the "011" first? I can text to UK by just typing in Country Code+Phone Number.

For example: +44-1234567890

When you go to create SMS message, at the top of the address book the first entry is "[use once]. It allows you to send the message without having the number stored.

UK is actually where im trying to text. im just going by what telus website says.

ive tried the way you described as well i think. but the country code is 044. do i not need to add the 0 at the beggining?? ive tried just about every combination i can think of. which is why im thinking that the phone, isnt including all the numbers, i have saved in the contact.

i just looked again. and i guess the country code is just 44. not 044.

but here is the quote right off of telus's website.

" International Text Messaging

To send a text message to one of the countries below, enter 011 + country code + mobile phone number. "

The country code is 44, not 044. Even when you dial from a land line it's only 44.
