Default sprint curve with ptt

Please Login to Remove!

So this is a weird question. I was a nextel user for 10 years, loved the ptt, but couldn't stand the 7100i so I just made the swith to my Curve and love it, just miss my ptt. Sprint is releasing a Curve with ptt I believe next week or the week after. Is it possible, without trading my phone in, just to donwnload the os of the ptt curve and it would work on mine?

The rumored date for the Nextel 8350i is the first week of December....just FYI

And no, you can't put the OS for the 8350i on the 8330. And even if you could, it wouldn't work anyway - the PPT is also a hardware function (plus, what button would you push?)

How long ago did you make the switch? Soon enough that you could return the 8330 and live with the 7100i for another month?

the 8350i is a true iDen device, the system that Nextel Direct Connect uses... it's guts are different from Sprint's 8330.

If you're unable to trade-up your 8330 for the 8350i, you may be able to load it with QChat when it becomes available to your market...

no, no you can't.

And no, you can't load any QChat software on the 8330.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I have had my 8330 for a while, so I am out of the upgrade period. It was asked what button I would've used, if it wasn't a hardware thing or Iden thing, and I would have used the voice dial button on the side.

Thanks again for the info.

QChat first main requirement is the need for EV-DO rev.A and the Sprint 8330 uses EV-DO rev.0 (that's the number zero, not to be confused with the letter "O").

nextel users ask me all the time "should I upgrade my nextel to a rev A Q-chat phone if I want 2-way" " is it better" . Not a at all the coverage sucks compared to the build out of nextel. If you want the best 2-way coverage stick with nextel . If you don't use the 2-way much and stay in your Rev a coverage area 90% of the time then make the switch.
