Default BlackBerry - Major Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have the BlackBerry Pearl 8130.

Yesterday morning I received an email with a .png attachment. When I opened the attachment, it showed the hourglass like it usually does while it loads. However, the hourglass just kept flashing and flashing and has been doing it ever since (over a day now). It slows things down badly. I've done numerous battery pulls which do nothing, and ended up calling Telus to see if they had any ideas. When I told them about the hourglass, all they did was tell me to try to send myself emails, and we determined I wasn't receiving any messages. HOWEVER, I don't see how the two - the hourglass and not receiving messages - are related. It could be 3 days before they "resolve" anything.

I've done more battery pulls since then, and right after my phone is turned back on, I've received a couple of random messages, but not everything I know I should have. Texts, BlackBerry Messenger and the browser all still work. Also, the phone seems to be draining its battery at an alarming rate.

I've tried deleting anything and everything I don't use regularly to free up memory - pictures, applications, emails, etc. I also know the email attachment didn't have a virus, because I opened it on my computer and found nothing.

Any thoughts?

Do you have content protection enabled? (general security options)

It says it's disabled. Should that be on?

My home screen has no objects and I do not have a menu to come up. How do I fix this?
