The Image Verification (captcha) system you have in place to allow users to search & register for the forums is freakin' ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I had to refresh the image to get a combination of numbers/letters that I could (barely) read.
Usually I don't make an effort to register on websites forums because I'm usually able to find the information I need by doing a search; however after several failed attempts using search feature, I had to register an account so that I could tell you guys this, and that alone took like 3 attempts...
Seriously... I think you guys should take a look at it, I can't tell if I'm looking at a sideways N or Z. Not only that but half the time the characters don't even line up properly (left to right), and it's next to impossible to tell what order you have to type in the characters. And the ONE thing that drives me nuts is the combination of colors from the background display and the letters... Who the hell can read this crap?
(EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm partially colorblind.)
PLEASE for the love of god change it! I realize the bots can bog your system down with the constant search queries to your database, but that captcha system you have in place is so counterproductive, even for legitimate user.
This one of the least annoying forums out there, not just for Blackberry!! Some forums even as a member there are annoying ads or "captcha"s. Welcome to the best forum on the web.
I will state the obvious and say there is a reason for the captchas. Without them the forum would be overrun with bots and spam, which would make this forum much less enjoyable.
Thank you all for your replys. It wasn't my suggestion to remove the captcha system entirely, just tone down the difficulty just a tad. I have a few websites that run a captcha system as well, however they're nowhere as extreme as the one on this site, but I must admit, I probably don't get nearly the traffic on my sites as this one does.
I have included some examples of captcha images which I wasn't even able to identify until I printscreened them to photoshop and zoomed in on them. Also keep in mind I'm partially colorblind, and some of those characters you can barely see....
