Default New BB for Verizon?

Please Login to Remove!

So my plan expired a month ago and I was anxiously awaiting the Storm. My brother purchased one and it is a very nice phone for the personal user. However I am looking to get a BB for work and after playing with the Storm for an hour or so it simply doesn't seem practical to get it considering all the emails and texts I would be sending. I often found myself miskeying and I'm not sure I would be able to deal with that. That being said are there any new BBs scheduled to come out for Verizon soon following the Storm release? I would prefer to have a 3G phone as it is my understanding that the Curve and 8830 World Edition have been out for some time now and are not. Thanks for your help.

The BB Cuve for Verizon has been out for less than a year, I like it very much. On the other hand you get 30 days to try out any of them. If I'm not mistaken a version of the Javelin is coming out some time next year I think. Don't quote me on it though.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

If you are with VZW and don't want the Storm, take a look at the curve as mentioned by zero.

The 8830 and Curve are both 3G on Verizon. EVDO is Verizon's 3G data network. I've had the curve since it's been out for Verizon and love it.

I wasn't aware the Curve came out in May. I have always gotten the most recent phone available and I would be willing to wait a couple months to upgrade if something newer is on the horizon. Rather that than have buyer's remorse. Anyone else know of anything possibly coming to Verizon?

My guess is that the Javelin CDMA equivalent would be the next BB to come to Verizon, but it won't be for a long time, if it even does. Just about everyone I know with the curve on Verizon is happy with the device.

The next BlackBerry devices coming to Verizon are the Apex(CDMA Kickstart) and the Niagara. The Niagara is basically a CDMA version of the Bold, but it's also taking the place of the 8830. The Niagara also has Wifi.

Good info. I would be willing to bypass the Storm for the next BB by VZW.

whatever it is, let it be a worldphone. I am possibly switching from ATT to VZW, already own a Storm, which I find great and a good alternative to other GSM phones from other carriers. I travel extensively, so I need the device to work on GSM networks abroad. Either a Javellin or Bold on VZW could be nice, again as long as they are world phones.

Are those both 3g, same as the Storm (I forget what subversion of the EVDO data network it's on)?

Hmmm. The Niagara sounds like something I could be interested in. I may just wait it out or pick up a Curve on eBay so I don't waste my New Every Two.

Technically, Curve, 8830 and Storm are all 3G. Curve and 8830 are Rev.0 and Storm is faster Rev.A.

Eh, that means I'll have to have my curve for a full year! Not sure if I can wait!

Unfortunately, the Niagara will not have Wi-Fi. Here is a list of Niagara specs:

-"Large screen family"
-480×360 LCD
-QWERTY keyboard
-EV-DO Rev. A
-aGPS
-3.2 megapixel camera
-4.7 OS platform
-BES 5.0 support (HTML email, etc)
-Qualcomm MSM7600 processor

The GSM Javelin specs are similar but it has a different processor and includes Wi-Fi.

Will the dimensions of the Niagara be the same as the Bold?

I know the above poster is fairly credible, but I highly doubt quarter 1-2 for any new blackberry on VZW. I think its safe bet to expect the next one quarter 3-4.
