Hi I recently upgraded my 8300 OS from 4.2 to 4.5 and my camera isn't working. I've read many threads and follow every suggestion, from battery pull to downgrading my OS, Clearing memory and formatting the SD card as well but still no luck.. Did I miss something or do I have to get another phone...
My camera did the same thing to me. The application would start up, then just a black screen.
I took mine into the Verizon tech, he looked at it, called in for help, then they said they were shipping me a replacement. I had my Curve for about 5 months, so try taking it in and you should be able to get a replacement.
It says "could not start the camera close other app and try opening again" But I've tried everything except taking it back to At&t. From battery pull to downgrading the OS back to the original but no luck!!! Has anybody figure something out instead of asking for a replacement...
My phone has never hit the ground so I doubt the camera is loose or broken I think is a software issue but haven't figure it out yet!!!

Well if you downgraded back to 4.2 it seems like it would be hardware related. I would suggest using jlcmder to wipe the device with no os and install the latest 4.5 for 8300 see if that works.

Well I'm sorry to say that nothing happened after I wiped the phone I still have the same problem I guess i have to get a new phone!! If there are any other suggestions please!!!! I still believe it is a software issue!!
I have posted this in the past. My wife's 8330 had the same problem. I removed the battery cover and pressed firmly around the camera lens with a pencil eraser. Not on the lens just right next to it going all of the way around. It worked on hers and hasn't had a problem since. Give it a try.
