My wife's Curve keeps turning itself off. I kept hounding her that it was because it was in her handbag and the End key was being pressed. But last night I sent her a BBM and she replied and then when I got home about 10 minutes later I asked her to call someone for me and she picked up her phone off of the kitchen table and it was off. The last thing she did was reply to my BBM.

The phone was simply laying on the table.

Anyone ever experience this?

Battery is normal charge. It happens at various battery levels.

There could be a couple of things here...

1) The battery might be sitting loose in it's compartment. Some people (although minimal) have tad play in them but for majority it is tight. I have heard people having play in the battery compartment and it rebooted about twice a day. You can try a bit of facial tissue jammed in opposite the battery terminals to prohibit it.

2) Issue with microSD. If you have a microSD, try reformatting or even having your berry without the microSD card for few days (just to notice the behavioural pattern)

3) Issues with your OS. I would recommend upgrade the latest OS for 8330. Follow the link below to understand the process of upgrading your OS.

Thanks for the input. I did a battery pull the last time it happened and I do not believe it has happened since. Previously I was simply using the soft reset program. I already have her upgraded to 4.5 with the official copy from vzw and she does not have a microsd card. Hopefully since the battery pull this won't happen again. I didn't notice any unusual wiggle room with the battery once re-inserted. I'll follow up if it happens again.

I asked her this morning about 20 mins after my last post. I haven't had a chance to re-post. She said that it was off this morning. Now I cannot rule out that the phone wasn't turned off by accident since she uses it as her alarm and rolled around hitting snooze for 30 mins. So the evidence is not conclusive, however, I am fearful we may need a new unit. Or at least a new battery...which I have a one that i can try.

FYI did you check the auto on/off settings on the options
only if it gose off at the same time.

Mine does random hard resets but always returns to ON.

My husband's Curve did that. He had to return it, and thankfully was still in the take-back grace period time.

I'm having that problem .

Have my phone in the charger and its fine but once I take it off I don't know how long it will last, sometimes it last me hrs , sometimes like 5 minutes .

It won't turn back on unless I take the battery off and when I put it back I have to connect it to the charger or else it would turn of in the white screen .

Also the battery life when turned back on is sometimes full or sometimes just a bit wasted never less than a bar tho . I noticed this after I got my sd card in it .

Does reformatting help fix this or what else can I do to fix this problem ?

It doesn't sound like my problem is as bad as some of the others out there. I will start to document the times it goes off and then maybe test things like using a different charger or changing the battery. This doesn't make any sense.

Ok so I checked the device and there was auto shutoff setting enabled. This explains the last two shutoffs that I confirmed as being out of the ordinary. Once last night and once the other night which I referenced in the original post. Both times they were after 11pm which was the set time in the auto-shutoff. I asked my wife to start texting me when it happens and she said well it happened again last night when I came up from the basement. So with this I have concluded that this may be the root cause of the problem.

What this doesnxxx8217;t explain is how the phone turned itself off yesterday in the morningxxx8230;which I believe was probably my wife shoving her phone under her pillow after hitting snooze on the alarm.

Without any sort of real testing of this scenario and the inability to manually recreate the problemxxx8230;I am going to guess that the root cause is the auto shutoff feature that is not working properly or it is working properly and the times it happens during the day is due to the phone being in a small purse and somehow the power button being depressed.

FYI the settings we have are on at 6am and off at 11pm. The alarm comes on every day at 7am.

Again I will post any other findings.
