Default Can't make calls from T-Mobile BB.Trouble w/support from T-Mobile

Please Login to Remove!

First, I am a Mac user. I'm not real sure if this is the right place for this or not, I'm new to BB.

BB 7230
APP: 3.7
Platform 1.6.0.49

I get a message that reads "Sorry, only emergency calls are allowed" When I called T-mobile support they told me I needed to download an upgrade from there web site. It is a .exe file and I can not read this w/ a MAC.

I am not real concerned with sync to the computer at this moment. I just really need it to make calls at this time.

That message normally means that there is an "IT Policy" on the BlackBerry preventing calls. Is this a new BB or previously owned?

So, what would be my next step if that were the case?

Dawg - I'd bet it has a restrictive IT Policy...

Jerk151 - you have to find someone (I don't have it) with a blank IT policy file, and instructions on how to apply it. It's not that easy....

I guess this thing will be worthless then. What a shame. A friend of mine found it on the NY subway. Dead, no SIM card, no charger. Sucks for me, sucks for the person who lost it. Originally, I was going to try and return it, but I couldn't get any info from it. Locked up and asking for a password. At one point or another the info was lost and it rebooted as a new BB. sent BB Welcome messages and all. So, I thought it was a waste for it not to get used at all. Doesn't look like that is going to happen.

T-mobile can run the IMEI number and figure out the owner as far as I know.

The only way I've seen that message is using a Cingular or AT&T SIM in a T-Mobile phone.

I just took it to T-Mobile and spent an hour with them. They couldn't come up w/ an answer. I told them I was willing to return it if they could find the owner some how, but they didn't seem to try. I hate to see it go to waste, I know these things are expensive.
