Default Noob Question Javelin and Curve... I take it they are the same?

Please Login to Remove!

Just purchased my first Blackberry today 8900 Curve.

I went to a number of dealers. Some refere to it as curve and others refer to it as Javlin. Are they the same?

Sorta, yes.

The Javelin is the 2nd generation Curve, which are made up of the 83xx models.

It is called the Curve2 by some.

I believe what a lot of people will say is, the Javelin was its production name, Curve is its post-production name as it's suppose to phase out the old Curves?

The 8900 was known as the Javelin when being developed. Now that it is released, it is known as the Curve.

Thanks for the answers. Clears up all the confusion..

I just upgraded today so i have the handset charging. I got a new sim with this, just waiting for it to be activated and my number to move across before i can have a play. Looking forward to it.

I recently purchased the G1 Google phone, so it will be good to compare the blackberry with this. I find that Imap is not so great on the G1.

I was considering getting a developer version of the Google Phone (or whatever the heck it's called), but each time I look at it in the store, I just walk away feeling like I would be wasting time and money.

I'd love to hear your take on the two when you get a chance.
