Default Found Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB, 7290(Cingular) that was found in a Taxi and after 60 day's was returned to the driver who in turn passed it on to me since it was not working.
I got it charged up and also unlocked it.There was no info on it at all(mail, previous phone calls, web pages, owners name etc.).
To my surprise the wireless was active and was hooked up to the Cingular network.I'm new to BB's so I gave it a spin by setting up the BB mail thing and got registered with an email addy via mmode.Made a couple phone calls and set up a Messenger service all of which work.
I read whatever posts I could find here and found conflicting ideas about lost/found/stolen BB's.
See'ing that the AREA Code assigned to the BB is over 1000 miles from me I do believe it was a lost item.
I'm interested in any comments about lost/found BB's or info on how to contact the owner and if I do would I be liable for any charges from Cingular.
After testing it I used it very little.
Thank You

O yeah,
Great Forum!

I didn't set up an account, i just activated the BB registration button I ran across.
As I stated, the BB was already setup. All I did was check out the features that it offered and then posted here to get some Usefull input.
Thank You

Yes,but that's just the included email account that's on the service.Somewhere someone must have the Cingular account active since I don't.So my question remains.
What is the responsability of a person that has found a BB?
Finders Keepers,Return it and be liable for charges I didn't incur or is there a Lost BB database somewhere that lists an owners contact info?
Thank You

call cingular and give them the pin # and the imei# for the phone. These are both unique to the owner.

I found a car with the keys in it. I assumed since the keys were in it no one wanted it anymore, so I decided to give it a spin and drive it around for a while. Is this wrong? I mean, how do you go about turning in a car that you've been driving around for 3 weeks?

(Kharma). I say give it back. I am guessing if it is Cingular you could have them trace the serial number to get it back to the original owner. If I lost mine I would hope someone would retun it.

Default Kinda of the same example

I was given my Blackberry as a tip for a job well done. The first thing I did was take it to Nextel and have them check to make sure it wasn't stolen or such. Just because something is lost doesn't mean we shouldn't take an extra step to help the owner find their item.

If I were you, I would just throw it away. In my mind, you've already stolen the thing since you decided to use it for yourself. I don't think you had any intention of returning it when you first found it... now the guilt of possibly getting caught has got you scared.

You're not fooling anyone here.

"What is the responsability of a person that has found a BB?"

You have the responsibility to be a decent human being and do the right thing. You shouldn't have to ask what to do. How old are you? Unless you still have someone wiping your a$$ for you, you should be able to make this decision on your own. What do you expect from us in this forum? Go ask your mommy to take your guilt away. We have grown up things to do.

I hope you are haunted by yourself in your sleep

Finders Keepers, Return it ...
Try inserting any work you like into the blank and see how it sounds.

Credit Card

Puppy

Child

Wallet

Cell phone

What if it was your cell phone and you had lost it. Would you want someone activating feature you might not have wanted to activate because it would cost you money?

You're not fooling anyone here.

Not only that but this person is probably just in here to gather info on how to hack it to make it work for him.
You will be caught, cause the #s cant be changed on it and when they pop up on a system it will lead directly back to you. So when the FCC comes-a-knockin dont bother walkin you just better start-a-runnin.

If you REALLY wanted to return it, it wouldnt be that hard to do. Heck you might just even get a reward.......hmmmm (money) now isnt that what its all about anyway.

one thing worse than a liar and thats a theif, and vise a verse.

Lightbulb What is our responsibility?

We as decent members of society and this forum have stubled upon an immoral and indecent person. I think it is our responsibility to report him to the moderators. Maybe they can trace his site account and send the info to the FCC themselves. I say we all report his post.

Please don't do that. We closely monitor every thread on the board. There's more than 10k users on BBF, even if 1/10 of them report a single post, that's more of a hassle to us than the actual post itself. You forget we get notified for each and every reported post. If I have to spend many hours of my day checking and and cleaning up reported posts, especially the same one reported a couple dozen times, I will be most displeased ;)
