Default Taking My Curve Abroad

I'm planning on going over to Taiwan for a while and I had heard that I could swap my SIM card out for a Taiwan Mobile SIM.

1) Is this true?
2) How do I get my SIM card out?

Thanks!

The SIM card should be directly behind the battery cover, or behind the battery itself, depending on the model, and they usually just slide out.

Now, whether or not the SIM swap will work...you'll have to wait for somebody else to fill that in.

Ok awesome, thanks for that.

Does anybody know whether the swap would work?

Only if your BB is a GSM model (8300, 8310, and 8320) and is unlocked (not tied to a specific carrier).

yes, providing your Curve is unlocked, it will work overseas. I bought a phone in Amsterdam, used it in Kuwait with my Kuwait SIM card, then got a T-Mobile SIM card when I moved back to the US. No problems.

Hold on, it says you have an 8330 on Sprint. Does it even have a SIM card slot and the ability to work on a GSM network. The 8830 does, but the specs on the 8330 don't say that.

Since you have the 8330 listed as your model, and Sprint as your provider, it will NOT work for you. Your device does not have a SIM card slot as it is a CDMA device, not GSM.

Now if you were traveling to South Korea, your 8330 would work just fine since SK Telecom pretty much is the exact same network as Sprint. Infact, they have roaming agreements between SK Telecom and Sprint allowing international roaming on each other for reasonable fees.

Now if Taiwan has CDMA, Sprint offers unlimited data roaming for smart devices (BlackBerries included) for $40 a month. So you can get all your e-mails and web browsing. Still gotta pay for voice, text and the newly found (on the 8330 with Sprint) MMS.
