Default Dropping to 'edge'

Guys/Gals,

I've only had my 8320 since Monday but I've noticed that once each day the signal has dropped from EDGE to edge....meaning no data.

This never used to happen with my old 8320. I know there are certain times when T-Mobile might be having issues, etc, but I'll usually check to see if my husband's 8320 is dropping too and his never does.

I put a new sim card into this phone on Monday so that shouldn't be it.

Kind of annoying to just wait for it to get back to EDGE since I miss emails. I know I can do a battery pull but that's also a pain.

Why is this happening? Any ideas?

As you said, "edge" means no data. Have you spoken to T-Mo about it? My guess is you are in a data dead zone.

I think I'll stop at TMO on my way home today. It's happened at my office but I don't recall it ever happening there when I had my old 8320 (ran older OS). Hmmm....just weird. I have to see if it happens at home. It's not like something would have changed with my office though....

Which city are you in? I"m in Southern California and I've noticed some recent dropping down issues as well with Tmobile. Signal strength is still strong however. Hasn't happened before and I've been in the same area for nearly 2 years now.

BTW, instead of a battery pull a simpler shortcut would be a reset. Just press ALT+(right)CAPS+DEL.

Trimix, thanks. I'm in the Houston area. I actually have QuickPull installed so it's not so bad but I also use the method you described.
