Are there any fixes for noticably weak signals on a Verizon Curve?

Purchased a Curve for the wife on eBay and it runs well, just dealing with weak signals.

I have updated the phone to the most recent OS.

Try dialing *228, option 2 on your phone. That updates what they call "PRL" which stands for Preferred Roaming List. Here, from a website called PhoneScoop, is more than you probably wanted or needed to know about PRLs:
