I just recently purchased my first BlackBerry and I love it. I did notice that the trackball light on my new Bold flickers, not on and off but the brightness dims a little then gets bright again (continuously) as though a candle were behind the ball. It's very subtle, not dramatic by any means. I hope that makes sense as this is hard to describe. I would like to know if this is normal or a sign that the trackball light might be giving out. I've searched the forums and some people said they've exchanged their bold for this very reason and the new one doesn't do it but others have said this is normal. Can everyone who reads this please post if your BB Bold trackball light flickers? Thanks!

I've had three BlackBerry's with trackballs and have never noticed this. Does the backlight for they keypad flicker for you as well?

Mine flickers too. Only if you stare at it long enough.
it isn't noticable normally.
more noticable if the brightness is low.
the flickering is almost like it cant cope entirely with low brightness.

OK... I see what you mean, its like an optical illusion. If you stare at the trackball really close, you tend to see it flicks, but if you watch from a further distance it doesnt.

The keypad doesn't flicker just the trackball and you have to stare at it to notice it. I think I've read that other BlackBerry models don't do this just the Bold.
