Default New BIS 2.6 / IMAP issue

Please Login to Remove!

Since VZW was a part of the BIS 2.6 upgrade (I think ALL US carriers were) - I followed the instructions...deleted my gmail acct and re-added, which sets up the gmail account as IMAP now. Since doing this - Ive had email on my BB acting strangely. I changed my gmail account in Outlook to be an imap account - no problem there. My question is: Is it possible to go back to POP3 the blackberry? I NEVER received a single piece of spam on my BB with my gmail account. Now, all get pushed thru to my phone...Pain in the butt, if you ask me!

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Yes
Just delete the acct
When you add back, just put your email and password in at the beginning.

Yea, re-send your service books then try to setup your GMail account, however just time in your email address and hit next, it will ask you for specific server information, I think GMail is POP.GMail.com and SMTP.GMail.com this will force youback to POP instead of IMAP..

I would try IMAP for a few days though.. Just my opinion.

I'm sorry guys...I was posting in haste - hoping someone else might have encountered a similar problem. I already had tried tho options of re-sending service books - they didn't come and after waiting 30 minutes - I physically deleted my 3 email S.B. entries on the phone - logged on to VZW BIS and tried a resend from there....Nuthin....

Then outta the blue...(I had set the phone down to watch NCAA before I committed a murder) my phones email notification tone started dinging like a madman - and all the MANY requests came thru...

I agree with you SteveO, I think being setup as IMAP would be the better option - but heres the weird thing. As a POP setup I never, ever received a piece of spam from my gmail account..If I logged onto gmail.com, of course the spam folder was over-flowing. But as an IMAP account on the phone I was getting spam every 10 minutes....And, to top it off, testing with the help of my friends - my emails were arriving much, much later than they did under POP settings.

I had your problem. I couldnt send out. The battery pull and a bit of patience solved it.

I think your issue is more related to this...
