Absolutely. Provided the device was either sold by Telstra or has been SIM unlocked it can be used. The software version does not matter.

can be done, dont have to do anything, just make sure you get an unlocked 8900.

i have one sitting here, you are better off getting the bold tho, hsdpa is so much nicer on the bold than the 8900 with edge.
