Please Login to Remove!

Hi i have a 8320 with 4.5.0.52 OS i just bought it its only slightly used anyway.. the phone works great exept for wifi...i cant get it to work on my home wifi ( i have a Dlink di-524 router and i dont use wifi usualy...got only pc's ) anyway i configured the router for wifi access my bb sees the network ..connects , gets dhcp settings but i cant ping any pc from the bb or the other way arround( the router is set to allow pings) i cant go on the web with my bb just gives me an error " no internet service found please try again later" the browser is set up for hotspot usage .. actualy the only setting available at browser settings i havent tryed the bb on other wifi's yet i will soon enough anyway the question is could the OS beeing outdated affect the wifi? should i flash it with the latest OS ? does the last version have anything worth taking the chance of making ur bb into a brick)? ...anyway wall of text over i'll have to find a wifi to test

OS could affect your ability to connect to a wifi spot. The version you have is a bit outdated in terms of the OS4.5 so a newer one might help with the issue. Have you tried connecting to any other wifi spots other than your home router? Also have you disabled any firewalls on your router end?

4.5.0.52 is maybe a year old so I doubt anyone will be able to say what's been improved since then. But if you look at the old thread, it looks like some people (post #6) had UMA problems with that version. So definitely try an updated one.

Also, there are probably settings in the router that can be adjusted to help improve the prioritization of UMA calls. Try the OS first and then if you can get it to work with that.

I also have a dlink router which my device connects to. It took two days to get my device to connect to the router. No settings changes were made, it just started working on its own after I kept trying to connect my BB to the home router. Just keep trying, or pray that your current router goes out soon so you can get one that one want.

You could just be unlucky and have a router that has issues with devices such as blackberries. This is a fairly old (4-5 years) router so although it may not seem like it, it could be your issue.

Try making sure WEP is enabled, not only is it obviously secure, but it could help with the connection.

Check channel settings, if it's at 6, try 11 or 3. Sometimes the channel can matter.

As well, if you've never done a firmware update to the device, get the latest firmware and load it to the router, sometimes even that makes a difference.

If none of these options work, then you need a newer wireless router, that's pretty much the solution.

I would also recommend for Wi-Fi browsing getting something like Opera Mini. And if you're on a data plan, for sure get a data use monitor because although the 8320 is Wi-Fi, some applications don't always support using it so you can end up burning through your monthly data.

Hope some of this was useful
