Help Removing a BlackBerry Device

I have a BES server I maintain and one of the users cancelled their At&t BB account. They would like to just use their exchange account via outlook to send/receive email.
Ever since they cancelled their BB account all emails sent to them get bounced back with the following:
"Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:
<email address>
A communication failure occurred during the delivery of this message. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message later, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator."
When I go into BES server, I see I can delete the user. Will this return them to pre BES server/Black berry.
We are running BES server 4.1.
