Default 7100t in UK

Hello,

Anyone know if it is possible to use a 7100t from the US on UK T-Mobile?

I currently have a 7230 from T-Mobile UK and I was wondering if the 7100t could be reprogrammed with the PIN of the 7230.

Would this work, is it possible?

thanks in advance.

cheers

You can not "reprogram" a PIN. The PIN is hardware dependant and is part of the device itself.

If you get a 7100t, you must first get it unlocked by T-Mobile US. If you are using a BES, you can put in your existing SIM card, and change the pin on the BES.

If you are using BWC, it is much more difficult, since T-Mobile US must first release the PIN/IMEI numbers from their databases (which may require getting RIM involved) so that you can register the 7100t on your provider's BWC web site.

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid involving T-Mobile. AFAIK the BWC isnt IMEI aware only PIN aware. I was thinking along the lines of finding the correct location within EEPROM on my UK 7230 and reprogramming the US 7100t with my current PIN. There is a TSOP chip on the mainboard that I may lift to check out the contents, I'm guessing that the PIN is in there somewhere, if the same could be done on the 7100t then it might get interesting, I'm not sure about the service books though.
