when you press the BACK key it brings up the dialer and types "hl" Also pressing down on the trackball brings up the dialer and types a "#" all the other keys work fine.

I tried wiping and updating the handheld software but it doesn't help. What the heck is going on with my keypad and trackball?

Has the device been moist at all?

Have you tried a battery pull?

Does sound like it might have gotten wet, however.

I am going to chalk it up as a moisture problem. the device was given to me free, I'll just use it for parts.

I have had several 8830's with similar problems. Mine have typed different characters than were pressed. It is usually about 5-10 keys that are affected. Verizon always troubleshoots it but ends up having to replace the phone if it is still under warranty.

Mine does that all the time. It's never been wet (stick on inside is white still as well) but it'll usually be like that for a couple hours, then its fine for weeks! I still have no idea but every time I've tried to head to the store with it, it "magically" stops doing it by the time I get there so I've just dealt with it. I always notice it after I've been moving things around/lifting stuff up so I have a feeling my issue is triggered by the keyboard being smashed around in my pocket.

there some rust on the inside of the keypad. try to disassemble your huron and clean the part under its keypad/keyboard using soft brush.
