Default Cannot Search Emails older than a month

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Today i needed to find an email which is received last year, but i could not find it, using my BB 8320. So i searched for emails 6 month older, same could not find message, finally figured its not searching emails older than 1 month.

I have checked my Keep Message is set to 2months,

Is this how it should be or, my BB is having problems in syncing with my Outlook.

Please guide, thanks.

How do you expect to find an email from last year when your device only keeps them for 2 months? I set mine to "keep forever".

If your BES is version 4.1.6 the BES admin can allow the 'Remote Search' feature.

One way to check you have this feature is to go into Messages -> Search and see if you can change the Search Type (top of screen) from 'Local' to 'Remote'.

If you don't have it, it's still possible that it's available, but the BES Admin hasn't allowed it. I don't remember if it's on by default or not...

Are you connected to a BES, and are the emails you're looking for from your corporate account?

If you get 5 emails a month, saving them is no problem but if your getting a lot of emails you cannot expect to save them on the BB forever. Most corporate servers have a limit on the number of megabytes allowed to be saved in an account to keep storage reasonable. Setting the BB to only delete it's own email will leave the emails on the server for later viewing if desired. On my system the only issue is when i reach the limit set by the Admin for Outlook, i cannot send emails and must clear out a few or move them to another non outlook folder.

We have no limits set in Exchange/Outlook, but I cannot search emails saved in my Outlook from BB. I have read elsewhere, that in OS 4.5 they have supported Remote Search feature, but my curve is already OS 4.5.0.55, but I dont have this feature.

Thank you.
