Default WiFi on 8350i

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure if anyone knows and this is probably a silly question but...

Is there any way to set up the WiFi on my 8350 so that it just picks up the connection without having to mess with the router? I am sure it's a security thing but I don't enter stuff that's gonna give me problems. I was with a friend a few weeks ago in Boston outside of Fenway Stadium waiting for a concert at the House of Blues. She was picking up Fenway net through her iPod touch so I thought "Cool, I'll get WiFi through my BlackBerry" but when I tried it kept telling me that I needed to enter a number into the router. Why is it that SHE could access the internet through her WiFi but I couldn't. Obviously, I couldn't run in to Fenway and enter the number into their router so I was unable to connect. I Does that seem strange? Is there a way to set it up so it just picks up the wifi or is that impossible. I know I was still able to do stuff but there are thing I can't do without wifi.... like watch YouTube videos.

I searched and didn't see this question anywhere else so if it's a repeat, I am sorry! Hopefully it wasn't too ridiculous!

Talking Wi-Fi "auto connect"

Bamellis,
Try this, my Wi-Fi connects when I'm in range.

Step 1 Press the Menu key.

Step 2 Navigate to Setup and click the Trackball.

Step 3 Scroll Right to Set Up Wi-Fi and click the Trackball.

Step 4 If the introduction appears, scroll Down to Next and click the Trackball.

Step 5 Click the Trackball to select Scan For Networks.

Step 6 Choose the network to automatically connect to. For this example, click the Trackball to select the highlighted option.

Step 7 To personalize the Profile Name, use the Delete key to erase the current entry and type in the new one. For this example, press H to prompt one to fill in.

Step 8 Scroll Down to Next and click the Trackball.

Step 9 Click the Trackball to select Finish.

Step 10 Press the End key to exit.

Hope this helps!

Default

I've done that and it works for home or other places I frequently visit that I have set up but I am talking about public places. I'd think it was a secured network because it asked me to enter a number into a router (which I cannot do) but a friend with iPod touch can connect. I've had this happen with 2 different friends at 2 different locations now.
