Default VZW - 7130e or 7250?

Please Login to Remove!

I am seriously trying to decide on one of these. I like that the 7130e is a touch narrower, I think the 7250 might be strange, holding it up to your face, what is your expirience?

Also how much of a pain in the butt is the 7130e keyboard?

I am not in an EVDO area, i wish the service was cheaper.

WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET?

Hello Jmhunter,

I have been asking the same questions, and here are some of my thoughts:

1. I think based upon some responses all around this forum, for me I want the qwerty key board but check this thread out:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=20134

2. Barjohn posts here and has a thread on his website comparing a 7100 vs the 7250 might also help. His web site is:
http://www.barjohn.com/

3. The response that I got when I posted this same question is: more phone then the 7130e, more email then 7250.

4. Lastly as I understand it the 7130e is EVDO (high speed internet) out of the box, and the 7250 requires some work with a VZW's tech, a long and painful process. The 7130e also has a slightly faster processor and 32 megs of additional memory.

Hope this helps,
MIKE

Am I correct in asserting that there is no hard confirmation from Verizion that they are going to enable EVDO on the 7250? I keep asking and they keep putting me off(we have a corporate account)

As I understand it, no. Some guys here have it working and are able to tether, but I think it is really kind of in beta testing. They released the latest update software to the 7250 and had the evdo working for the 7130e so I think that is how the guys here have got it to work. My guess it will not take to long to get more stable as the competitors with 8700’s and edge are out or soon to be out and there is a market share worry for VZW. These are my assumptions mostly from reading this forum and digging around VZW’s web site.

MIKE
P.S. I am going with a 7250 myself.

Default Verizon enabled it for me - no problems

I phoned Verizon Saturday night, spent about 15 minutes on the phone with them, downloaded and installed the new desktop manager and Blackberry device'
s operating system (7250), and was up and running on EVDO. No big deal.

Having the 7250 and now upgrading to the 7130e this past week, I love the new keyboard and the smaller size. The keyboard is a breeze to use and actually learns the way you type, words you use and etc etc. I received my 7130e last Monday and I am much faster on my 7130e than the 7250.
I also get much better reception with the newer unit. The intenna (spelling??, as I was told it was called) is much better.

I am still working to find a driver to tether it to my Powerbook. But you PC lovers will not have a problem.
