Hello,

My family is new to Blackberry. Because the devices have web browsers, I'm worried about my kids being able to access inappropriate web content. I have filtering software on our home computer, but I cannot find something similar for blackberry. Is there any product out there that will filter websites? OR, is there any way to simply track what sites have been viewed (even if they are deleted on the phone). I contacted Sprint--our carrier--and they said they do not have browser history. This surprised me, but I suppose it must be true. Any suggestions? I'm afraid if there is no answer, I may take our blackberries back and get something without web browsing. Thanks for your help!

You've given the kids blackberrys, or the blackberrys belong to the adults? If the later, how about just password enabling the blackberry and locking it when you aren't using it?

two kids have them--just wanted to know if we can filter or just see what they've been viewing. Obviously, looking at the history isn't enough b/c it can be deleted. Thanks

Yes, the filter exists between you and your child and not on the device. If you don't want them to surf the web on the device, then a different device would likely be a better option.

You could also delete the browser from the device if you want them to be able to use the other functions.

Move the computer in your house to a central location. No real filtering software required. Quite frankly, it's always easy to get around it. You might want to stop playing CIA with your children. Overbearing parents mess kids up. Ignore my advice and enjoy dealing with out of control teens or a pregnant daughter a few years down the road.

Why are you giving your children Blackberries anyways. A iPhone is a better solution for that type of user. Alternatively, you could give them a regular phone and not only save money but not have to worry about it. It's sound like you're a little short on common sense though, so that might be too practical. A sensible person would be posting questions here BEFORE they buy. Hopefully the apple rolls away from the tree a little.

purewire.com has software you can download onto all blackberrys which will allow you control of what websites can be accessed as well as reporting on what websites have been visted...

There is a company called 'jnetmobile.com' that has a filter for blackberrys for $5.99 a month.
