Question Periodically unable to press any bottom keys

Please Login to Remove!

Do any of you have this problem?

I don't know what you officially call the keys along the bottom of the screen - the answer, hangup, menu and escape button.

Periodically, I go to click one of these and I get no response. The screen doesn't click down. It's like the screen is locked. If I wait a second, I can usually get through (click it).

I'm not pressing the screen with my other finger(s). I waited to see if this was just a fluke but it's been happening since I got the device several weeks ago. Roughly once a day.

Anyone share this?

Are you saying that they work correctly sometimes and then not other times, or they do not work all the time?

They work most of the time. Just sometimes I'll be going from something on the main part of the screen and get no response on the edge buttons.

A solution posted by BBA on CB:

Now after a lot of trying I found out a cure:

1. When your screen is locked up, unlock the device from the keylock with the top left button

2. Try to go to the Main Screen (Home Screen)

3. Now, swipe with a slight push your Thumb/Finger between these two buttons until you hear a lot of clicking.

4. The screen should now be un-locked-up.

This has worked for me every time the screen locked up. Let me know if it works for you aswell!

Default I have had this problem too..........

I had a similar problem yesterday afternoon. I had my phone on vibrate and a call came in. When I went to answer it by pressing on the screen SEND button, it wouldn't click down to answer the call. I then tried to press on the hard SEND button, and nothing happened. I couldn't answer the call so it eventually went to voice mail.

I'll have to try pressing the top left button next time if this happens again!

My lock up doesn't last as long as what you guys are reporting. I can usually lift off the screen, wait a couple seconds and try again then it works.

In any case, it sounds like a hardware glitch in the system. I hope RIM can figure out a software fix!
