I currently use a 7100v on the T-Mobile network here in the US. It is out of warranty period. My scroll wheel has crapped out and now I am at a cross roads.

I could get the 7100v repaired for about $90 including shipping.
I could get a new unlocked 7100v off eBay for about $150.
I could get a new unlocked 7100x off eBay for about $320.
I could order a new 8700 and get it unlocked and use on TMO network for about $500 (I know I can get cheaper with a Cingular plan but I want to stay with TMO which is why I need it unlocked).

I like the 7100v form factor but also like the all black 7100x. Both have the seperate keys unlike the 7100t which I also like.

The 8700 is new and I am hearing some build issues around dust etc. but it also has high-speed, full keyboard, better screen, morememory and a faster processor. I used to have the 7290 model so I am familiar with the 8700 form factor (though it is a bit smaller)....

So any opinions out there. Is it worth the $500 for the 8700. Should I just get the 7100v repaired or spend the extra money for a new 7100x and it's form factor? ANyways I look forward ot your help.

I am a cheap bastard, so I would go with the cheapest option. I would love to have an 8700, but it is too much more for me to justify it to myself.
