Default PROBLEM in .419 Threaded SMS I'm trying to refrain from downgrading back to 4.7

Please Login to Remove!

Any help at all is appreciated!!

Is there a way to ungroup sequential messages in SMS on the new 5.0 .419 like you can on AIM,MSN,and Yahoo Messengers to make it go from looking like this

Person 1: hello
>what are you doing
> want to go get lunch

Person2: hey
(check mark) nothing much you?
(check mark) yeah sure I could do that.

To how I thought it was going to be chat-style and how it is on the Centro, Treo and instant messengers like this

Person1: hello
Person 2: Hi
Person1: what are you doing
Person 2: nothing much you?
Person 1: want to get lunch
Person 2: yeah sure I could do that.

I don't know if anybody else finds it extremely annoying but if there isn't a way to ungroup sequential messages I will sadly have to downgrade back to 4.7.

No. It depends when sent. It will resemble what you find in BBM. 5.0 has so many nice features besides threaded anyway. See comprehensive link. Leaked upcoming BlackBerry OS screenshots reveal new features | iGeneration | ZDNet.com

I'm talking about in the SMS and MMS folder. It doesn't group sequential messages in BBM it works likes I expected it to. It's the grouping of the sequential messages in sms thats really bothering me. On yahoo on my phone all I do is going to options and then change group sequential messages in a conversation to no, but I can't figure out how to do that in SMS on here.

There is not an option change that setting.
With your OS, you should be getting the "threaded" SMS view. Grouped like a conversation.

Are you saying you are not, that yours are still in the "old" style:
Person 1: hello
>what are you doing
> want to go get lunch

Person2: hey
(check mark) nothing much you?
(check mark) yeah sure I could do that.

This is how my sms folder looks... you sure you're in the sms folder and not the messages folder or something

I'm sure. I'm in the SMS and MMS folder and yes the text are threaded but they don't look like you said yours did. It groups everything a person says like they are talking in paragraghs instead of individual messages but in the same window like usual threaded text are like how they are on the Centro and Treo and IM clients.

She sent me the "text me when you're done" at 3:09pm and the "I made tacos one" at 6:42pm, but you can't tell because it grouped them together instead of sending them in the normal chat style

The first check mark I sent at 3:07pm, and the second one I sent at 7:15pm But it looks like I sent it all at once instead of.

Me: hahah I have 2 lines etc...

Me: we need to get more lines etc....

At the correct times and like a normal IM style SMS like everyone elses is looking.

What I've noticed is that if you scroll up or down through the messages, it will tell you what time they were either sent or received.
Me, I like it.

Threaded txt is awesome. Plus you can remove all the incriminating txts you don't want your gf to read in one fell swoop :p

So as far as we know, there is NO way possible to revert back/change view of "SMS and MMS" icon to what it was before the v.5 O/S update, correct?

No, there is no way to revert back to unthreaded SMS in OS 5.0. That was was of the biggest selling features for me on the 5.0, it looks cleaner and keeps your inbox more orgainized and easier to read. All you have to do is scroll through the conversation to see how long ago the message was sent/received.

I am not sure that I like this either, but I will try to give it more time.

For me it is putting messages in other people's folders. I have replied to the wrong person on one and had to ask another if they sent the message. That is really bothering me! I am going to try once more before also downgrading.

You can always downgrade the entire OS to 4.7 and get back the old style. Personally I couldn't stand the old way.
