Default trackball replacement

Please Login to Remove!

looking to replace my trackball -- I noticed that a lot of ebay auctions say that it doesn't inclue the chrome ring (I have the bold 9000). Will the chrome ring from my existing trackball work?

Thanks,
Jared

You do not need the chrome ring that they are speaking about
Personally I would order from www.horizonwirelessonline.com

I appreciate the feedback, but why spend $8+ if I can spend less than $1?

Go OEM for your trackball. LOTS of posts about how aftermarket trackballs suck. Going OEM means you're stuck with either white or black, but at least it will work as advertised. I really like these guys for great service, decent prices and a good OEM parts selection. Oh, and you don't have to buy from Hong Kong on the process.

I got my black OEM black trackball from them.

If you bought the black trackball, you didn't get OEM. The black ones are for the Google G1, and just so happen to be compatible with the Bold.

Not true. The 8900 uses a black (atomic) trackball.

so from dealsishop.com (the link provided in celly's post), which OEM is it? Google's or Blackberry's? I cant see how it'd be both.

You of all people, previously owning an 8900, should know that black trackballs are OEM.

Someone is picking nits here. Yeah, it's compatible and is also identical to OEM except for the colour. I view OEM as anything that the phone builder specs for their phones which is almost always better than aftermarket. I realize it's not OEM spec for the 9000, but it could be. Quality is excellent and it works as good, if not better than my OEM trackball. I won't touch those aftermarket (coloured) offerings for anything. Too many negative posts out there about how lousy they tend to be. Likewise, lots of great posts about the black G1 trackball.

From their site:

OEM Black Trackball fits/replace your Blackberry Curve 8900 trackball and google G1 phone.

It's also compatible with other models of blackberry cell phones like 8100 series, 8300 series, 8800 series and blackberry 9000 Bold.

OEM product, great quality.

Trackball Color: Black

Compatible models:

Blackberry Curve 8900

Google G1

Blackberry Pearl 8100, 8120

Blackberry Curve 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330

Blackberry 8800, 8810, 8820

Blackberry Bold 9000
Note: Glowing effect is not supported by Black trackball.
