RIM MySpace App Notification

Ever since I installed the MySpace app on my phone via App World, i get that red star notification that tells you you have received a new message and/or update on their app...
Even though i don't have a MySpace account (and consequently not logged into MySpace via the app) i'd rather have the app on the phone anyways in case i come to sell it, at which point it's already downloaded and ready to use etc
Anyone else have this problem when downloading the app? I have tried using QuickPull and removing the battery for 2mins yet still the notification does not go away
Any suggestions?
