Default storm vs storm 2

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to using a blackberry (6 years) I am hesitated to switch to the storm model as I heard bad things about the typing/keyboard. My question does storm 2 have a much improved keyboard, eg, is typing significantly better on storm 2 than storm1?

I write a lot of emails and I am sure it is a matter of getting used to it (actual keaypad vs touch screen) Is my assumption correct?

Many thanks in advance for your help

PS I want to move away from a trackball as it tends to break down a lot. How is this trackball replaced in storm /strom2?

I have a Storm 1, and don't mind typing on it. Occasionally I miss having an actual physical keyboard for a couple different reasons, but I'm in no hurry to switch to anything different. As for the typing on the Storm 2 being any better, I don't have an answer for that.

On the Storm, the trackball is replaced with the touch screen. In order to select anything, you just touch the screen to highlight it and then click the screen to select it.

I have used a storm and storm 2..I love the storm 2 and not having an actual keyboard doesnt effect my emailing. Believe I send hundreds of emails a day. The storm 2 is a lot better then the first one

Same here. I have used both devices and currently have the 9550. The typing in this blackberry is the best typing experience I have had in a phone. I've tried 81xx 8220 83xx 9000 8900 9500 and IMO this is the most versatile. Given that you have portrait qwerty (which I don't use), portrait SureType which is really good, portrait tap tap and landscape qwerty, all this with auto correction feature you will be making less mistakes than with other BB. Also the clicking on storm 2 is improve and it really feels like a phisical keyboard.
If you get the chance go to a Verizon store and try both, though you have to keep in mind that you will need many days to get used to it after all.

Tks everyone. One last question, I have played around with an (bad word on this forum - sorry) IPhone and am OK typing on that. Is the Storm 2 similar to the iphone (keyboard-wise)? Tks again.

I have used both... and I think the size of keyboards are the same (qwerty in landscape and portrait)

Storm 2 PROS: you also have Tap Tap and SureType mode (the later sometimes its a lot faster than qwerty)

CONS: well you will have to learn to click through instead of just touch the key BUT this also helps to make less mistake as you can quickly stop your finger if you were gonna hit the wrong key before clicking... you will see when you try it...

Bottomline: I prefer the typing on the Storm 2 better than the iPhone... in both device are precise but Storm 2 truly pevents you from making more mistakes...

Default Help

I jsut got my storm 2.. luv it. small problem, when i set up the pwd, i jsut hit the 5 top buttons from left to right on the keyboard mode that has 3 letters per button. for some reason when i had to unlock it the keyboard layout changed to singel qwerty button mode. now i have no clue what my pwd was.

can you please tell me what the first top five buttons are on the 3 letter button mode? (i am not sure what you call that keyboard layout)

i think the fist button was was either a "1" or a "'," followed by a, d, g, j, ?

i only have 3 tries left before my bbery locks up for good.

I feel like an idiot. Tks for the help.

I tried looking for the different keyboard layouts on the web, but cannot find the one i am looking for.
