Default Cross domain activations

Please Login to Remove!

On earlier versions of the BES for Domino I used to do cross Notes domain activations of devices. It was necessary to have the mailserver of other domain have a trusted relationship with our BES and also set up replications documents etc But I remember it was NOT that reliable at that time.

1) Can people confirm this is still technically possible?

2) What are the main technical issues with cross domain activations of Blackberries. Is reliability a key consideration for instance or has this improved a lot recently?

3) In environments where people have activated Blackberries from other email domains what support issues have arisen when trying to update Firmware or applications OTA for instance?

4) How has the application of policies or groups fared when the user is in a different domain to the BES server.

1) Technically possible, see View Document

2) There are improvements from BES 4.1 onwards. For foriegn domain users, when messages are sent from the device, they will be deposited in the MAIL.BOX on their home servers - hence more efficient and realiable routing. Activation wise, no issue if you have cross-certify properly and the necessary connection docs are created properly.

3) Users being in a different Domino domains does not have any bearing when it comes to OTA stuff. These are all BlackBerry/BES related not Domino.

4) Again, no bearing.

Reads pretty similar to the way we did it with directory assistance etc.
