Default Purchased software..

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

If I were to upgrade my device, what happens to software that I have purchased and installed? My understanding is that the way it is verified if you have actually purchased the software or not is by the bberry PIN. For example, if I wipe my bberry clean and then install the software again, it automatically knows that I have already paid for it and everything is good. If the device changes, so does the PIN and therefore, this process cannot occur. Are you just SOL if you need to change your device? There must be a better solution to this that I am not aware of! I should not have to buy the software again because I simply want to install it on another device and decommission my existing one.

My apologies if this has been asked before, I was not able to find a thread.

Thanks,
D

Most times, not always, you can get in contact with the developer, who will allow the change of PIN on the software.
Its up to the developer of each app however.

You might need to upgrade to a new version or you might find the apps you hove are not compatible with the new OS, especially if you are moving from say 4.5 to 5.0.

In some cases, if you bought software from Mobihand, bPlay you can sign into your account and change your pin in which case new activation codes are generated for you.

Depends what the software is and how you bought it from.

On a related note, does RIM tend to fix BBs, as opposed to replacing them willy nilly like Apple does?

You can't go to RIM with a branded handset. They will send you to the carrier.

thanks for the replies guys, i did not know you can change the pin in that manner. I am sorry for the late response.. but somehow i thought i was going to get an email notification if someone responded, so i thought that no one had till i logged in and looked. i will check with the vendor if that is possible.
