I like having the facebook app because i can easily upload pictures so i dont want to get rid of it but i hate it that when you have a notification i get the " F" icon but i dont want it ever ive asked people but they just tell me how to look at the notification but thats not what i want i dont want the icon to come up at all can some one help ? can it be stopped ?? thanks Harley

The only way to prevent that visual notification is to remove the app entirely.
There isn't an option in the app which controls that behavior.

What happens if you log out of FB and then hide the icon? I know the carriers push the service book, but if you're logged out you shouldn't get notifications, no?

If you log out the app shouldnt be able to intercept the emails you get to notify you, so that should work.
