I just went from a 9000 where Google Maps worked great, to a 9700 where I can rarely get a gps signal. I am using OS 656. I have tried refreshing satellites to no avail. Is this OS specific or an issue with the gps on the 9700or an issue with my phone? Thank you.

Make sure that Location services is set to "on"

Then you need to be outside, with a clear view of the sky to allow the device to locate the satellites. It has to download an ephemeris table first so it knows which sats to "look" for and where they are. Can take 20 mins or longer, especially if it is the first time.

I have gotten better results by using Google Maps and letting Google locate you using cell tower data and then have GPS refine the fix. Don't forget that you need a BB data plan for Google Maps however.

Looks like it was an OS issue. Switched to 586 and it is working fine now!!
