Enterprise Messaging Client, Sametime, Can't Connect

Hello Everyone,
I've recently been put in position of managing BES server here. We're pretty new to the Blackberry platform in general. We're currently running BES 5.0.1 and Lotus Domino 8.5.1 with Sametime 8.5. Currently IBM's own Sametime client is incompatible with the 9600 series, or to be more correct, any Blackberry running OS 5.x or higher. So, to connect to the Sametime server I'm tryng to setup the Enterprise Messaging. The BES server was setup from install with support for Enterprise Messaging, there's no firewalling policies in effect that are blocking the traffic to/from the Sametime Community server yet I am unable to connect to the Sametime server using the Enterprise Messaging client. It is client version 2.5 for Sametime. I have verified network traffic from the BES to the ST Community server and vice versa so I am thinking that the issue may lie somewhere in the myriad of controls that BES offers. If anyone has any ideas, or if additional logs/trace files would be beneficial, I'll be happy to supply them just let me know where to locate them if possible, as I said, I'm still quite new to this lol. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Also, for what it is worth, the Blackberries are either Curve 8330 (Verizon) with OS 4.5, or Tour 9630 (Verizon) with OS 5, or Curve 8530 (Verizon) OS 5. Thanks again in advance.
