Hi all,

I am doing my first install of BESv4.0 with an SQL server.
Unfortunately, all is on one machine : the doamin controller + Exchange 2k + SQL server 2k

My main problem is that I never installed a bes with SQL server. I did all my installations with MSDE.

I found that I had to give the following SQL server roles: Server Administrators, Database Creators;


and the following Database role: db_owner + rim_db_bes_server

I do not have any rim_db_bes_server role !!!

Where can I find it ?

Is the list of roles correct ?

Can anyone help me ?

where did you read that? if its a new install you cant assign db owner because the bes install will create the database and be assigned by default as the db owner.

You need server admin, db creator is suggested, but should be inherited as a server admin.

Hi,

1) I applied only the "Server Administrators" and "Database Creators" server roles for the user "besadmin".

I noticed that the default database for "besadmin" is "master".
Is it correct ?

2) I have a problem for the assignment database roles also.
The "BES for Microsoft Exchange Version 4.0 installation guide", p. 13 section "Configure Microsoft SQL", tells to expand "databases" and to "expand the configuration database".

Which one is the configuratino database ? Do I have to create one especially for my BES installation?

P.11 of my guide says:

To create a new database, you require the
following permissions:
• SQL Server role: Server Administrators, Database Creators
• Database role: none

Default DB can be master.
