I'm trying to activate the MDS on our BES server (4.0) but everytime I try to start the service, it starts up then stops. The MDS is enabled on the BES server and on the user. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok, Have you looked in the application event log using the event viewer? Take a look there. If there is a message relating to MDS, and overlapped I/O in progress, then look in the system event log.

If the error is that the JVM could not be loaded, then you need to repair the installation of MDS using the original setup media.

I had this problem recently and ran the setup again, choosing repair. This worked fine for me.

I looked in the event log and under the application log, it shows event ID 15000 for the Blackberry MDS. Under the system log, it doesn't say anything about the JVM not loading. I don't have the original setup media, just the updated exe file that I downloaded from Blackberry. Will this exe file work for the repair? Or would the 3.6 media do? By doing the repair it won't change any settings on the server will it? I don't want to have to reconfigure everything again. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
