Default [User] Installing Themes on the 7100 running 3.8

Please Login to Remove!

This is a tutorial on how to install new themes on your Blackberry 7100 series. I am personally working on a way to create/modify exsisting themes. I am making good progress and will keep everyone updated.

Step 1. Download the Themes.zip file Here
[Edit by Mark Rejhon: Or download newer Themes.zip with T-Mobile theme added]

Step 2. Unzip and extract files to a New seperate folder on the desktop. You can choose where to extract the files to, it makes no difference, but remember where you extract them to.(pictured below using WinRAR)

Step 3. Open Up and Connect to Blackberry Desktop Manager (make sure blackberry is connected).

Step 4. Select Application loader and click NEXT.

Step 5. On the Next Screen click ADD...
(NOTE: your screen may vary depending on what you have added in the past. Uncheck any previous programs you may have added)

Step 6. Search for the Themes folder you just extracted to earlier in step one. (If followed correctly it should be located on your desktop.) Select Themes.alx and click OPEN

Step 7. Click Next and sit back and enjoy. (wait til it is finished loading)

Step 8. OPTIONAL STEP Go to the "fridge" grab your self a nice cold one and reward yourself for the new themes on your new 7100 ! enjoy

Special Thanks to:
SmartPhoneDepot.com -- for providing the extracted themes
Chris @ TotalNutrition -- for hosting files.

this does NOT work on 7290 phones, but only for 7100 phones, 7100 themes are not interchangeable with 7200 phones...

Ok, I'm an idiot - I uploaded these cool themes to my 7290. Now I've got the Vodafone one stuck on my BB and I can't delete it. Any clue how much memory this (hopefully little) application takes and is there a way I can get it off?

Did the same but don't panic. First uninstall, but don't delete the app through the desktop Application Loaderr (untick it)
Don't panic when finished, but you will have no themes and B&W icons.
Next edit the ALX file in the themes folder and delete all the <files></files> line except for:

<files>net_rim_theme_blackberry.cod</files>

Then load application loader again DELETE the theme application first and then re-add it again selecting the ALX file you edited

This will reinstall just the RIM standard theme
Hope that helps

Cheers

Oh myyy - opening up a 6 month old thread.

Yes, changing themes breaks the calculator. And there is no fix. In fact, there are a few new threads with the exact same question.

Jibi has written an extensive document on themes. The only themes available are the ones the carriers have had written. And they break the calculator.
