Good morning all. I see that the GPSD thread has been closed. I have a question though. Can the 9530 utiilize Google Maps, thus doing away with VZ Navigator? I really don't like having to pay for the VZ Navigator. Thanks in advance!

I think VZW opened it up with an update some time ago.

Best advice is to try it and see.

I installed Google Maps 4.4.0 I cannot seem to find the setting for voice activation...does it come with this?

google maps doesnt have voice navigation.

There is no such thing, for the BlackBerry.

You're looking for Google Navigation... but that's only for Android-based devices.

Please use our SEARCH feature.

Look at the yellow sticky at the top of the GPS & Maps section for reviews of many BB map applications.

RIM needs to really trick out the Storm 3 to be compatible with the voice activated / voice aspects of Google.
Google Navigator is amazing and just as good as the Magellan GPS unit in my wife's car. She actually didn't believe me when I told her what my Droid did until I showcased it for it. Now she traded her BB for a Droid.
Additionally, when driving. I can perform voice sms texting just by hitting the mic icon on my keyboard.
I'd like to see the Storm catch up with the smart phone milieu.
