Default Duplicate Address Book

Please Login to Remove!

Ok,

I've got a Torch and it has an address book named 'Desktop' and another named 'Desktop Office'

Desktop Office is the account that actually Sync's with the BES.

I went in and deleted every entry in Desktop and the thing still exists... it is now empty but I would like to permanently remove it. It has no ability to be deleted (as is usually the problem most people have) so I'm wondering, how I can have it disappear.

Thanks!

The only way to remove it is to remove BES activation I believe.

Hmm... could possibly work.

I did a transfer from an old to new device (the duplicate address book existed on the old device because we put the user onto a new BES)

I dont think the calendar method will work - I am pretty sure that just deletes the service books for calendar and then resends them to the blackberry.

The addressbook doesnt use servicebooks.

We had the same issue with a few users in my office (we are running Lotus Notes), and it turned out the users were accidentally sychronizing their personal addressbooks with the domino server, which created another "desktop" addressbook on the device. This new addressbook took over as primary and would not contain all of the entries which were added/deleted after the sync, and would not reflect the correct changes in the blackberry when doing a proper sync in Desktop Manager.

How I got rid of the second addressbook was to:

Delete all entries in the server copy
In Desktop Manager, go to Backup/Restore>Advanced
Delete the Addressbook database NOT the Addressbook All
Make a backup of only the Addressbook All database after the above step.
Wipe the handheld
Restore from the backup
Perform an enterprise activation
Synchronize via Desktop Manager

Pain in the ass but it worked.

It erased the "Desktop Office" Address book which is the real one, it then also popped up and sais "Desktop is not wirelessly synchronized, are you sure you want to delete it" and I said yes.

Thanks much, this will help lots in the future if I run into this issue.
